Using Rapid I/O I/F on EVMK2H For CSI-2 I/F

Hello All,

I was wondering if anyone has thought about this - probably so - but is it possible (I think so) - to use the RapidIO Interface on the EVMK2H as a CSI-2 camera interface?

Probably an adapter board would have to be made - but can the signaling be adapted to get data from a CSI-2 based camera?  And/or - could a CSI-2 TX 'emulator' be coded up to tx CSI-2 signals?

Just thinking out loud a bit here - but since CSI-2 is (Sub)LVDS, it would appear this is a possibility and something that could be interesting to work on.

Thanks In Advance,
johnw

  • Hi Johnw,

I am not an expert on Rapid IO.

My suggestion would be to use USB camera to interface with K2H board.

Please hang on to hear from experts. Thank you for your patience.

  • Hello Rajasekaran,

    Sure - USB3 is a good/great choice.

But, the question is for the Rapid I/O I/F - if it can possibly take a CSI-2 input.

I will wait for the experts to reply.

    Thanks,
    johnw

  • Hi Johnw,

While other processors within TI have supported CSI-2, it has not been implemented in the KeyStone family of devices. We don't have the expertise to give you a definite answer to your question but I don't believe that you can use the SRIO as a direct connection to the CSI-2. Both SRIO and CSI-2 use LVDS as the physical interface but there is a higher level protocol to each that is unique. You may be able to add a device that encapsulates the CSI-2 over the SRIO but you would need some external logic and some software on the KeyStone device to extract the information.
