K2 Power Saving Questions

Customer:

"We are trying to find was to reduce as much power as power. One thought is to keep as many interfaces powered down as possible.

From the table below:

However, The PSC document SPRUGV4B claims Power states can only go from off to on (not ON to Off).

Is that how you read this section?

Please clarify. I would like to reduce power, but not limit the capabilities

(ie dynamic power interface On/Off or Off/On) even if a reset had to occur."

  • Joe,

Is the question for Keystone-I or II? The power domain table is from the Appleton data manual.

The PSC on Keystone-I devices only allows for OFF --> ON transitions.

The PSC on Keystone-II devices allows for both OFF --> ON and ON --> OFF transitions.

This was supposed to have been updated in the PSC users guide. We will make sure this moves into the documentation update queue.

  • Correction: The PSCs on Keystone-I and Keystone-II allow ON-to-OFF and OFF-to-ON transitions. The updated users guide should be up on the web by next week.
