EVMK2HX eval module and 10 GbE with Mistral RTM-BOC

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: 66AK2H14

Has anyone successfully used the 10 GbE with the K2H evaluation module (EVMK2HX)?

Are you using the Mistral RTM-BOC or some other means?:

The website above states that 10 GbE hasn't been tested with the K2H board but is said to work for the K2E eval module. I tried contacting Mistral's tech support, but was not able to get a straight answer.

Thanks,

Paul

  • Yes. Please mention the version RTM-BOC used. Please refer below Link,

    Thank you.

  • Raja,

If I read that thread correctly, all the 10 GbE benchmarks reported were done with a K2E board, not a K2H.

I have a K2H board. I have not purchased the BoC, yet, as I haven't been able to get confirmation that 10 GbE will work with the K2H board. The manufacturer's webpage states that it hasn't been tested with K2H.

So it will work? Is there a particular version of the BoC that I need to buy?

    Thanks,
    Paul
  • Hi Paul,
We don't see/heard any problems from K2H with 10GbE(RTM-BoC), surely it would work.

You have to enable the 10GbE driver and device tree support.

  • Titus,

Thanks. I just received a call from someone at Mistral, and they said that 10 GbE did not work with the EVMK2HX but it did work with the K2E (Edison) EVM but didn't specify exactly why. Are they incorrect?

    Regards,

    Paul

  • Hi, Paul,

I just read this thread today referred by the other thread. I want to be clear that when it mentioned that there is only k2e benchmark on XGE, it does not mean XGE is not supported on K2H. We verified XGE on K2H using Mistral RTM-BOC, but never run the iperf to get the throughput numbers. Please see attached K2H console logs and screen shot from Linux host machine. Ignore the console prompt showing k2e. It may be caused by mismatched filesystem. The logs was captured on a K2H EVM which can be verified by the number of DSP cores in the kernel boot up logs.

  • Hi, Paul,

Not to confuse you, I re-ran the K2H XGE using correct filesystem, and correct the ping command which I mistakenly used in prevous log, attached is the K2H console log, and the screenshot from Ubuntu desktop. EVM XGE port 1 IP address 192.168.1.24, and Ubuntu desktop XGE port IP is 192.168.1.44.

  • Hi Rex,

We are designing a custom board using 66AK2H14 to connect SFP Plus module to transfer data through 10Gbe protocol.

Could you show me any schematics references to help me verify my design?

I will appreciate for that very much!!

    Regards,

    Feng

  • Hi, Feng,

We suggest you contact Mitral directly for the RTM-BOC schematics because it is Mistral's product. Thanks!

    Rex

  • Hi Rex,

I want to test K2H 10Gb features and I ordered the Mistral BOC. Did you run to any restrictions on the SPF connection, like what optical transceiver works with it, or if you used copper link what was it? I ask this since I saw many NICs that have some constraints that they only work with a special transceiver/copper link!

    Thanks in advance,
    Moein
  • Hi, Moein,

Sorry, I am not familiar with this and any restrictions. We use TE 2127930 Direct Attached SFP+ cable. This question is probably for Mistral to answer.
