As suggested in the answer to my last port, I downloaded CCSv6. Out 6657 board has a mezzanine JTAG board which is labelled Texas Instruments XDS2xx. I was compiling 'Hello World. The compile went fine. I then tried 'Run->debug and I was asked for a connection:

I chose: Selected connection:

Texas Instruments XDS2xx USB Debug Probe

and then

Texas Instruments XDS2xx USB Onboard Debug Probe

Error Message in both cases:

Target configuration, C:\ti\ccsv6\eclipse\\ti\workspace_v6_1_3\hello world\NewTargetConfiguration.ccxml,
does not have valid setup, please configure the target and try again

What am I doing wrong?

Can you please refer to the below TI wiki pages ?

Create a new target configuration for your board and emulator then do "Test connection" with your board & emulator.
Also please make sure that you set boot mode to "DSP no-boot mode" for debugging purposes.

Hi Peter,

I have used "Texas Instruments XDS2xx USB Onboard Debug Probe" to connect with C6657 EVM. As suggested by above, ensure to set EVM in "No boot" mode and run "Test connection" before testing.

If the "Test Connection" status fails then I suggest you to detach mezzanine card from EVM and test with on board xds100(base board).

We have the Project in ccsv6, verifying the connection and compiling. However when we try to RUN it we get a load error and the message to update the firmware on the SDX2xx board by running update_xds2xx.bat. This seems to run properly, but fails to change the firmware serial number from 1.0.0.2. The compiled version of hello.out still does not load.

A number of people on e2e have the same problem. What is the fix? Or should we throw the TI XDS2xx mezzanine board away and buy one from another manufacturer?

Peter,

after the update is complete disconnect the USB connection from the board and the PC and re-connect it before you power up the board.
After you power up the board, run
C:\ti\ccsv6\ccs_base\emulation\specdig\xds2xx>xds2xx_conf get xds2xxu 0

and check the version number and let us know if you are sstill having any issues.

Also, If this doesn`t work, my recommendation is to remove the mezzanine card and connect to the mini USB port corresponding to the XDS100 emulator port.

Configure the the target configuration, so that you select XDS100v1 USB as the emulation connection and the target as TMS320C6657. Test the connection and then connect to the target using the onboard XDS100 emulator.

On my installation of ccsv6 the directories are a bit different::

C:\ti\ccsv6\ccs_base\common \uscif\xds2xx\xds2xx_config --version

returns 1.0.0.2 instead of 1.0.0.8

xds2xx_conf get xds2xxu 0 returns a lot of data but no version number.
