In the file package.xs of RM LLD, inside the function getLibs(), the var socTypes does NOT have a member named c6678.

So I am wondering why RM LLD exists in the PDK.

Hi,

There are several RM test projects in PDK 3.2.0.5 for C6678. Those projects still need to link with the RM library under drv\rm\lib\c66.

Hi, is it OK if I don't use RM at all, and assign RM service handle to NULL for some LLD's initialization?

For example,
1. calling Pa_startCfg() with rmServiceHandle = NULL.
2. don't call Cppi_startCfg() at all.
3. calling Qmss_init() with qmRmServiceHandle = NULL.

Or a simpler question: In what situation do I have to use the RM for the C6678 device? Is it a must for PA/QMSS/CPPI/SRIO LLD?

Hi,

RM was backported to the Keystone I devices, due to a lack of ARM cores, its only real use is for resource partitioning between DSP cores and threads. It is not a hard requirement in K1 for PA, QMSS, CPPI, and SRIO. The handles can be provided as NULL.

Hi,

But how can I find out how the resource partitioning is done for C6678?

There are 2 code files in device directory for c6678. Each file has an array inside, but I don't know the meaning of the content.

Hi,

In the directory ti/drv/rm/device/c6678, there are 2 .c files named global-resource-list.c and policy_dsp-only.c.

Respectively, they have array named rmGlobalResourceList and rmDspOnlyPolicy.
