TMS320C6678: Support for internal AC coupling inside serdes

Part Number: TMS320C6678

hi,

if i dont want to use external capacitors on serdes data lines (srio) , can i configure the serdes to be ac coupled internally and just connect the wires to the other IC?

  • Hi,

You should strictly follow the design recommendations provided here:
    processors.wiki.ti.com/.../Keystone_Multicore_Device_Family_Schematic_Checklist
See SERDES & SRIO sections in this wiki:
    SRIO
    Routing must support 5GBaud operation.
Differential pairs must be length matched.
DC blocking capacitors are required for data lanes and should be implemented on the RX end.
The SRIO differential TX and RX buffers contain on-chip termination resistors, so an external termination is not needed.
If the SRIO interface is not required, the SRIO regulator power pin (VDDR4_SRIO) must still be connected to the correct supply rail with the appropriate decoupling capacitance applied.

Also you must follow the recommendations in the device data manual & the hardware design guide (www.ti.com/.../sprabi2c.pdf).

    Best Regards,
    Yordan
