66AK2H14: Cannot have an IP address issued. Couple of power failure indications before booting up.

Part Number: 66AK2H14

The evaluation board has the following issues:

1) Upon powering up, most of the times indicates power failure. Sometimes it succeeds and boots.

2) To get access to any information demos etc,   I need an IP address for the device on the same network that my computer is in. I followed the instructions that came with the box ( without connecting  the computer through the USB bus) and the module displayed one, after a couple of tries, in my home private network. When the IP address was typed on the Browser of my PC, I was getting errors, like too much time to connect.

I tried again, this time following the video on the link https://training.ti.com/introducing-the-evmk2h-evaluation-module  that shows that the module has to be connected to the computer through the USB. The module does not display the IP address anymore. On my modem's network map the connection was shown broken. To fix the problem, I removed the device from that map and tried to boot again hoping that the modem may issue another one for the board but it did not. According to the start up guide, I cannot do anything unless I successfully complete the above step. Can anybody help?

Evi.

  • Hi,

Can you please elaborate on the following:
    1. What software are you running/trying to run? RTOS or Linux?
    2. Which SDK version is this?
    3. Share any logs you're seeing on your debug console, so we can inspect it.
    4. Share the power failure messages.

    Best Regards,

  • Jordan Hi!
    Ans.
    1) The browser was running on Windows 10. The instructions text file says before I do anything to get the IP address and connect through my PC to a browser and the Ethernet for further instructions. It does not specify what system my PC should run on.
    2) The evaluation module is EVMK2HX REV 40. The back of the board has also a string that reads: DSPM-8305E AMC REV:A104-1.
    3) Today miraculously I got an IP address. After booting the board's screen showed the following messages:
    SOC Power Stop
    complete
    ARM SP1
    ARM SP1
    BMC VERSION 1.0.2.6
    IP Address 192.168.1.5
    s/n: 108049

but when I typed the IP on the Browser the error messages read:
    This site can’t be reached
192.168.1.5 took too long to respond.
    Try:
    Checking the connection
Checking the proxy and the firewall
    Running Windows Network Diagnostics
    ERR_CONNECTION_TIMED_OUT

I checked the connection through the Windows troubleshooter. The reply was:
Your computer appears to be correctly configured but the device or resource (192.168.1.5) is not responding.

    4) Upon connection to power, occasionally, I get : Soc Power Failure.

    Thank you for your response.

  • Hi Evi,

    Regarding 4:
    4) Upon connection to power, occasionally, I get : Soc Power Failure.

This is a known issue (with workaround), there are many related threads on e2e. See some of them:
    e2e.ti.com/.../2165194
    e2e.ti.com/.../601215

Try fixing this first, as in my opinion, this is the major issue you're experiencing.

    Best Regards,
