CCS/TMS320C6678: How EMIF16 behave after we disable the SS mode

Part Number: TMS320C6678

Tool/software: Code Composer Studio

Hi TI engineer,

        For a long time we use our EMIF16 in SS mode,which means we will set "SS" in Async x Config Register to 1. But  now we try to optimize our timing. So we check the "KeyStone Architecture
External Memory Interface (EMIF16) user guide".The we find something that not quite clear, as following:

        1. chapter 2.4: " Configuring the EMIF16 for Asynchronous Access " says:
        EMIF16 can operate in the following modes:
        • WE Strobe Mode
        • Select Strobe Mode

        2.chapter 2.5.4 2.5.5 and 2.5.6 each give a kind of timing sequence:Switching Waveforms , Select Strobe Mode and  WE Strobe Mode. It emphasize that "WE strobe mode is supported only on CE3";

        3.In Async 1 Config Register , there is "SS" control , but there is no "WE" or other mode control.

        It confuse us.Could you tell us about this:

        1) Is the timing schedule showed in"Switching Waveforms (2.5.4)" is one kind of mode? Is it different from "SS mode" and "WE mode"?

        2) What does EMIF16 behave when we disable the SS? Will it behave as WE mode or other mode?

        3) Especially for CE0-CE2, if WE is disabled for them, then what will happen if we disable SS of CE0-CE2?Will it behave like the timing schedule showed in"Switching Waveforms (2.5.4)"?

        Thank you very much.
