Is there any information avaialble on the power consumption of DM38x devices? In particular I'd like to comapre against DM368 performing dual SD encode.

Hi, The power consumption depends on the usecase.
Could you provide your usecase so that I can check if there is any power consumption data I mean tested on IPNC reference design .

Hi Eason,

1x H.264 576i encode

1x H.264 576i MJPEG Encode

VPSS enabled

ARM 70%

EMAC disabled

Case temp 25 deg C

Everything else disabled

If you need other details or the ones above aren't appropriate, pick them as you choose and let us know what the use case was.

Hi John,
Sorry for replying late.
Below is the data I have:
1080P60 + D1-30 + MJPEG-5 Low Power AR0330 CSI2 Sensor 3.7W.
Low power means the HDVPSS is disabled.
It is tested on Appro DM385 IPNC.

Hi Eason,

Thanks for this. I'm surprised. Since this is a next generation part I was expecting it to be lower. This looks like it will use more power than the DM8147, though I'm not sure how much the MJPEG-5 is consuming. A figure for 2x D1 encode only would really help.

Is a power estimation spreadsheet planned, as for other devices?

Hi John,
I forget to say that the 3.7w is the total power consumption of the appro IPNC, not just for the chip. Does it sounds better ?
I have another data for you:

1080P30 + D1-30 + MJPEG-5 Low Power
With Thermal Pad between PCB/enclosure
AR0330 CSI2 Sensor
with DDR3L the power consumption is less than 3W.
