DM385/DM388/DMVA3 transcoding speed comparing to DM8168

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DMVA3, DM385, DM388

Our main task is video transcoding and transrating. We need to process as more channels as posssible by one device.

Currently we are using DM8168. It can transcode 16 x 720x576@25fps or 3 x 1920x1080@25fps from MPEG2 to H264 High Profile with deinterlacing. So, its about 5 SD channels per one HDVICP.

Main problem is that support for DVRRDK is finished. Also there is no MPEG2 encoder for it and we are looking for the replacement for our task. Actually we are using video h/w acceleration only (not using DSP for audio or other tasks).

We can use put serveral DM385 / DM388 / DMVA3 to one PCB and merge them via some bus (PCI, USB or other) with our host platform(PC).

So, questions are:

1. How many SD channels can be processed by HDVICP2 on DM385(1 x HDVICP2) comparing to DM8168 (3 x HDVICP2)? I think it should be 3 times less, about 5 SD channels and about 1 HD channel. Right?

2. Is MPEG2 encoder available for DM385 / DM385 / DMVA3

3. What is the main difference on DM385/DM388 and DMVA3? Is there any document with comparision table for all DAVINCI SOCs?

5. What about support on DM385 / DM388 / DMVA3 SOCs? Is it active?
