Video capture evaluation mode card for TVP 7002 and home made better driver for TVP 7002 and DM 6467 Davinci processor

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TVP5147
We are a Software and Hardware company developing a Hybrid Security System on the basis of D6467 DA VINCI processor.

This system will allow to use Analog cameras, IP cameras, Audio, Analog ports, Wifi in a single product.
It will be connected to internet through Gigabit RJ45, 3G modem and RTC.

We are now in the process to finish the first Industrial prototype.

In the development of the product ,we faced a lot of problems with the drivers provided by TI. Namelly most of them concerning version of Kernel and  of drivers, not (or badly) supported by SDK.

This drove us to ameliorate vastly the development environment, specially around the D 6467 DA VINCI and TVP 7002.

  • By developing an evaluation mode video capture card.
    • It allows to grab SD and HD
    • Allows component input and VGA with embedded sync.
  • By developing a single TVP 7002 driver allowing:
    • To work without the need of SDK
    • To capture VGA with any resolution
    • To support multiple TVP 7002 on one board without the switch functionality present in evaluation mode. This allows a single DA VINCI processor to support up to 12  cameras simultaneously.
    • To support config. file for capture and display (to ease config. and testing phases)
    • To capture the buffers (to process or analyse the incoming stream)
    • To vastly optimize buffers management
    • To use containers for :
      • MEG4 with
        • ACC or MP3
        • H264 Raw Stream
      • FLV with
        • ACC or MP3
        • H264 Raw Stream
We would bw ready to supply our deveolpments on license basis. Texas support believe that some of you could be interrested.
These developments may  help a lot developping faster and better those of you working on video.
  • By allowing them to test much easier and faster
  • By supporting much more cameras
Thanks for reading

  • Hi olivier.

the driver work on dm365/8 ?

  • Mourier,

I have a research project in progress and presently use analog decoders TVP5147 and USB cameras with the Davinci and Linux (Beagle xM) - Your solution sounds interesting.

We need a minimum of 2 active cameras - standard definition is ok, but as we intend to apply custom image processing, we prefer to have uncompressed Bayer images.

Is this something we can use for our project with the U. of Alaska?

I.e. is it available to sample, to purchase?

We are comparing this to our original custom PCB using the TVP5147 and an FPGA for image transforms as well as another Linux option using the NVIDIA Jetson SoC.
