DM3725: MMC3 Pin Mux Confusion

Part Number: DM3725

Hello,

A customer has tested their EMMC interface and verified it is working correctly, but their pinout doesn't match our PinMux utility. It appears to be some mix of mode2 and mode3. Is it possible to have them intermixed like this? Or is there some other explanation for this?

Thank you!

  • Hi Ryan,

Do you suspect some bug in the DM37x pinmux tool?

    Regards,
    Pavel
  • Hi Pavel,

I don't necessarily think it's a bug in the tool, but more a lack of understanding on my part in regards to configuring the pins.

Can each pin be assigned a function from a different mode? Or does the whole device have to be residing in one mode, with all the pin assigned to that mode's function?

From the table above, it looks like some of the pins are using mode 2 function while a few are using mode 3 function. Can you confirm this is normal operation?

    Thank you!

Yes, I think this is correct. I do not see any obstacle to use EMMC_CLK (pin AF10, mmc3_clk) in mode 2 and in the same time EMMC_DATA0 (pin AE4, mmc3_dat0) in mode 3. If something is not correctly configured, the pinmux tool will mark it in RED. Check the below wiki:
