All,

I am excited to announce that thanks to our a long term relationship with Microsoft, we have developed a high performance embedded software version of the RemoteFX protocol which is released today on over 300 Millions PC with windows 7 SP1.

This implementation runs today on the DSP integrated on DM3730 and provide RemoteFX decode capability up to 1280x1024 at minimum 24fps.

The big innovation here is that RemoteFX encodes on the server side from the graphic card , it means,any kind of windows, 3D graphics effects or videos can be encoded as you would see it on an real desktop, and so the thin clients using RemoteFx will render ALL features of your desktop / Server, This is a first !!!

We are also working right now on our next generation DM part that will enable dual screen experience from a single thin client box for professional market, this with higher resolution and higher frame rate !!

    How can I test this technology? Does TI provide the firmware separately or only together with the chip?

    Hi Jean-Marc,

    I would like to make sure that what you announced here is a software RemoteFX codec implemented in existed DM3730 chip instead of a new version of DM3730 integrated a RemoteFX hardware codec in the SOC. Right ? The difference between the software version you offered and other 3rd party software solution like open source project FreeRDP is that the implementation you offered here leverages the powerful hardware  acceleration logic which is already built in DM3730 long time ago. Right ?
