UBUNTU 12.10 ARM FOR dm8148, X server config

Hi all. I use a  qemu-debuootstrap to build a ubuntu 12.10 rootfs for a dm8148 board .And using the ti firmware file and configs from the RDK,with a kernel 2.6.37.

The kernel and rootfs is boot ok and all firmware was load correctly.

But as I apt-get insatll the lxde ,and xorg, I can't the the x run.

startlxde tellme ther's no display,  and cmd X get error and exit.

X -configure error with "no devices to configure".

I think the xserver didn't connect with the graphic dirvers for now.

Can somebody give me some hint on this?

  • Hello, Biao Yang.

I can't help you in your question, but may be you can help me? :-)
I understand that you succeeded to emulate DM8148 in qemu - please, can you give me any hint how to do this?

    Many thanks ahead.

    Leon

  • Sorry ! You miss understand what I am doing.

I use debootstrap  tool of ubuntu to make a ubuntu rootfs for the  8148 cpu,

    not emulate DM8148 in qemu.

But you cant exec the arm-linux code in change root env with debootstrap. For some debug case , it is useful.

for more infos ,google  debootstrap or just to tu ubuntu for it.

  • Maybe you can open the /ect/X11/xorg.conf
and edit its driver to "fbdev",
I used the way can display something but no complete .

Or you solve this question early?
    If that,could you help me?
