Hello,

We try to record both graphic and video. Our main output (which contain both graphic and video from pipeline) is DVO2 (which is tied to HDMI+SD)

But - CaptureWB does not work (and it never worked + no support for that in e2e), so our only hope is to use SD output and connect it back as input into VIP port B, so that we can now record graphic+video.

But using the SD, bnow we have another problem:

SD does not show the same graphics as HDMI !

I would please like to understand what is the relation between /dev/fbX and physical output (hdmi, SD).

Do we need to configure fbX to get to SD/HDMI.

With our previous tests we saw that fbX can be displayed in HDMI but not in SD, even when they are tied !

This is very important issue for us and the only hope to make it work,

Hi Ran,

SD output does not support writeback. There is no way you could write SD output back to the memory.

HDMI and SD works in different modes, HDMI typically works for progressive modes whereas SD supports only Interlaced mode. Because of this, we cannot connect same graphics to both SD as well as HDMI output. You need to have different graphics pipeline connected to both of these display, may be you could keep the contents same on both of these pipelines, in order to have same contents..

Thank you very much for the reply.

We consider SD as alternative to writeback , if we can't make writeback work in our system.

We consider connecting SD output to VIP input in hardware , i.e. HW connectivity - NOT writeback in SW.

Can we clone the same graphics to both hdmi and sd , so that the graphic contents and the video contents shall be the same ?

Not from the pipeline, we cannot connect same grpx pipeline to both HDMI and SD display.

Accoring to

It's possible to clone fbX to several outputs (such as SD, HDMI).
Do you mean that doing the clone in this method (as described in link) should not work ?

Hi Ran,

Cloning can be done among HDMI/DVO2/HDCOMP Vencs, it cannot be done with the SD, where resolution/pixel clock/mode is completely different from the HDMI/DVO2..

Hello Brijesh,

We decided here to cointinue the effort of recording merged video+graphic, but in different way:
We shall wire the 24-bit output into another vip input, using the discretes for sync.

If you have any comments on this, can you please add them here ?

Hi Ran,

Yes, if you connect 24 bit output from vout to VIP over discrete sync interface, it should be possible to capture back vout into memory. I would suggest connecting all three sync lines, hs/vs/de and clk to make sure it always works.
