PINCNTLx Reserved Register bit setting

Referring to the datasheet - SPRS647E –MARCH 2011–REVISED DECEMBER 2013

Table 4-11, pg. 160, mentions that the reserved bit19 must be written to the default value from table 4-13. The value varies from PINCNTLx register to register. 

For whatever reason, the bit was set to "0" for every register in some legacy software. 

What happens if we violate the default value?
