question about the SR3_FRAME_BUFFER_EXTRA

Hi, 

I used the rdk4.0.

I found SR3_FRAME_BUFFER_EXTRA on file config_2G.bld, and init it on file SYSLINK_common.cfg and utils_mem.c.

I couldn't used the memory, I alloc a buffer from SR3 by Utils_memExtraRemoteAlloc() on DSP side, however, it return NULL.

How should I do, if I want to used the SR3 memory?

Could you give me some advices.

  • Are you building for 2G build. Can you invoke Utils_memExtraRemoteAllocLocal and put prints to check if allocation is happening. You can invoke this API only from c674 and not from M3

    Now, I could allocate SR3 memory.

    However, the M3Vpss would be down when I allocated SR3 on capture link. I allocated 47 framebufs(VIP0 allocated 41 buffers, VIP1 allocated 6 buffers) on capture link, each buffer more than 8MB, the print message as follow:

  • SR3_FRAME_BUFFER_EXTRA cannot be used to allocate any buffers on M3 that are accessed by CPU.

    It looks like capture driver is doing CPU access of frame buffers.This is not expected.

    Pls collect the exception trace to be able to identify the call stack.

    Also confirm you don't have VPS_CAPT_DO_FRAME_TAGGING_FOR_FRAME_DROP_ISSUE define enabled in HDVPSS driver build

    Thanks for your reply, I will check the exception trace.

    What's the means of CPU access the SR3 frame buffer?

    As I mentioned when I allocated 46 buffers, there is one SR3 frame buffer would be allocated, the addr is 0xe0000000, however, the capture can process successful. And, the nsf and sclr also allocated the SR3 buffers, they can process successful.
