How to configure dm8168 to support 24-bit vout output display in dvr_rdk_4.1 framwork?

Hi:

I'm useing a extern lcd with resolution of 1024x600(RGB888format);

In test I found it can display by HDMI interface , but our lcd 's interface is rgb24-bit and it connet to dm8168's vout port 0.

When i try to work after article:

It did not work.

How to configure dm8168 to support 24-bit vout output display in dvr_rdk_4.1 framwork?

Hi,

Which output are you using? DVO1 or DVO2?

schematic diagram show VIP OUT 0. It should be DVO1.

vout0 is dvo2, on dvo2, it is possible to have 24bit output.

but how to configure it to use DVO2 output under dvr_rdk_4.1_platform?

We test as follows:

Runing SDK 5.03, referencing:http://processors.wiki.ti.com/index.php/DM816X_AM389X_VPSS_Video_Driver_User_Guide and do the configuration:

Configure DVO2 VENC:

root@dm816x-evm:~# echo 0 > /sys/devices/platform/vpss/display1/enabled
root@dm816x-evm:~# echo 38362,800/200/24/72,600/24/0/1,1 > /sys/devices/platform/vpss/display1/timings
root@dm816x-evm:~# echo triplediscrete,rgb888 > /sys/devices/platform/vpss/display1/output
root@dm816x-evm:~# echo 1 > /sys/devices/platform/vpss/display1/enabled

switch graphics0(fb0)output from HDMI to DVO2 VENC:

root@dm816x-evm:~# echo 0 > /sys/devices/platform/vpss/graphics0/enabled
root@dm816x-evm:~# echo 1:dvo2 > /sys/devices/platform/vpss/graphics0/nodes
root@dm816x-evm:~# echo 1 > /sys/devices/platform/vpss/graphics0/enabled

then fresh the frame buffer 0:

root@dm816x-evm:~# dd if=/dev/zero of=/dev/fb0 bs=3200 count=600

But is seems to no use under dvr_rdk_4.1 platform.

Hi,

This is correct way, but dvr-rdk might be overwriting these settings. please check the displayctrl.c file in dvr-rdk, this file reconfigures dvor output using SET_OUTPUT ioctl. Change the output format to tripple channel rgb888 here, then you should be able to get the output even in dvr-rdk.
