LMH0341 Deserializer connection to DaVinci DM8168

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: LMH0341

I have two HD data streams coming in, and am using two LMH0341 deserializers.  Will this deserializer interface easily with the DM8168?  Is there possibly a reference design doing something similar we can refer to?

  • Steve,

I will check this and come back to you when I have something.

  • Steve,

Unfortunately the LMH uses an LVDS interface on its output side and the DM816x uses a parallel CMOS interface for its capture port so you cannot directly connect them.

You would need to format convert from LVDS to parallel. This might pe possible with a CPLD or small FPGA but we do not have any reference designs which implement this.

I believe something similar is done with one of the sensor modules for the IP net camera sensor boards though, but you will need to review the web page for the vendor for more details. I believe there were/are 2 versions of the board. The initial version used an FPGA and newer boards use the LVDS324 de-serializer. You will need to look at the signal levels for the SDI receiver and LVDS de-serializer to determine if they are compatible or not.

  • Steve, Thank you for your response.  This is good information.  I will look into the LVDS324 and see if it will work in our case.
