DM8168 on board peripheral using SDK

Hi Mohammed,

First I would recommend you to install and use our latest ti-ezsdk_dm816x-evm_5_05_02_00.

Then I would recommend you to start with the examples described in:
ti-ezsdk_dm816x-evm_5_05_02_00/docs/DM816x_EZ_Software_Developers_Guide.pdf
ti-ezsdk_dm816x-evm_5_05_02_00/example-applications

ok i will download and install latest ti-ezsdk_dm816x-evm_5_05_02_00.
by that time, can you send me the changes need to do after installation, to work with audio and video programming.

HI Pavel,

i followed the TI81XX_PSP_AUDIO_Driver_User_Guide but when i tried to menuconfig i didnt find SoC Audio for TI81XX chip

--- ALSA for SoC audio support
<*> SoC Audio for the TI81XX chip-----> not found
<*> SoC Audio support for TI81XX EVM-----> not found


and also unable to compile A minimal record application code.

Try with the below sequence:

ti-ezsdk_dm816x-evm_5_05_02_00/board-support/linux-2.6.37-psp04.04.00.01$ make distclean

ti-ezsdk_dm816x-evm_5_05_02_00/board-support/linux-2.6.37-psp04.04.00.01$ make ti8168_evm_defconfig

ti-ezsdk_dm816x-evm_5_05_02_00/board-support/linux-2.6.37-psp04.04.00.01$ make menuconfig

You should source the linux-devkit before compile application. See ti-ezsdk_dm816x-evm_5_05_02_00/docs/DM816x_EZ_Software_Developers_Guide.pdf, section 6.1 Setting up cross compilation environment

Then follow the example "hello world" described in:

i got the executable but unable to record its just giving the below result.

root@dm816x-evm:/home# ./minimal_record
snd_pcm_readi successful

The audio data is recorded/captured in a buffer:

If you want to record/capture in a file, you should use arecord ALSA tool:

Use the ALSA arecrod utility to capture the data to a WAV file and verify the data using the audio analyzer tool.
TI8168_EVM# arecord –f cd -t wav -c <num of channels to capture> <Audio file.wav>
The above command will capture the data from save it in the WAV file format

This minimal record application comes directly from the ALSA pages and is stated as not to be real program, I do not think you will be able to play this buffer.

I would recommend you to double check this with the ALSA developers:
