DM816x EMAC address values

In a response to a MAC address query in the thread https://e2e.ti.com/support/dsp/davinci_digital_media_processors/f/717/t/400648 , it is stated that

“When setting a MAC address please ensure that the LS-bit of the 1st byte is not 1 i.e. when setting the MAC address: y in xy:ab:cd:ef:gh:jk has to be an even number.”

I have a few questions based on the above requirement. They are

  1. Could you let us know why this is so?
  2. Are all TI MAC address (present and future) will have the 1st byte as even?
  3. Will the board not work if an MAC address with odd 1st byte is programmed into MACADDRLO and MACADDRHI registers (RW) in the EMAC Control Registers?
