MEM_alloc slower than malloc??

Hello,

I am using a DM6435 with DSPBIOS 5.42.

I found out, that the mem_alloc function is significantly slower than the malloc function and I wondered why. Is it a bug or is it possible that I am using mem_alloc in a wrong way? Is there any example for using mem_alloc or source code?

hello, I also find the same question. I am using a DM6437 with DSPBISO5.31.07. the time MEM_alloc cost is 3--5 times to the time malloc cost. Have you know what's the matter!

The perfomance of mem_alloc is especially lacking with the use of very small blocks of memory. My application allocated about 60% of overall memory and i couldn't use malloc because I had to use a special memory segment. I resolved the problem with pre-allocated pools for small sized blocks. This solution is even faster than using malloc.
