    I think, many algorithms exist for edge detection but one of the most commonly used ones is Sobel edge detection. Also, there are edge detection function subroutines referred in c64x+ IMGLIB programmer's guide below:

    Kindly check sections 5.15, 5.16, 5.17, 5.18, 5.19 for edge detection routines and as well, there is a list of the routines within the IMGLIB2 for compression/decompression reference, kindly check section 7 for the same.
