Other Parts Discussed in Thread: AM1810, OMAPL138
Hi Professionals!

I think some TI engineers have already known me as I posted many discussions here, which were all about AM1810 applications. Instead of a technical question, this post has two aims: -1) Thank you for all your help and AM1810 board we developed works well now. -2) For a long  time, our team tried to analyse why so few customers used AM1810 in the past? At least, we found the supply of AM1810 in global market didn't prosper  all the time since AM1810 came out. In our opinion, maybe those bugs our team found in the past half year are the bottlenecks for those other customer  who tried to develop AM1810. Maybe they didn't dive into the problems for any they met, while our team kept conversations with your engineers and found  some important bugs.
So we are wondering now if TI product strategy team will reconsider AM1810's blueprint as AM1810 is excellent after bugs got fixed. I think TI AM1810  developing team also felt stressed and disappointed with the status of AM1810's market share. For our team, we are using this chip on wind turbines and  the market is beyond imagination. And we hope a stable supply and lower cost after your massive production of AM1810. Therefore, we'd like to hear from  both your technical team and strategy team and  have a discussion.
I hope TI engineers here can help with this issue, which means a lot to us as well as to your AM1810.
Thank you!
Best regards~

  • Hi Guotao,

We do acknowledge your concern but unfortunately we couldn't provide you a commited response at this point of time. I will take this request to our team experts and for sure, they would provide you suggestion to move forward.

  • Guotao,

Thanks for using our AM1810 MPU. It is part of our OMAPL138 family that is a well stablished family and our revenue is going very well.

As of today, we have no plans to obsolete this family, so you can be sure if you are placing order with our authorized distributors, your company will have no problems with supply. As you know, prices are volume dependent and at this time we are not expecting any major changes in AM18xx prices, so your company can plan accordingly.

Regarding redesigning it, there is a new revision available (rev D). Please check AM1810 product folder for details.

    Thanks for your candid comements.

  • Hi

Thanks for your positive response. I am glad to hear that AM1810 brings TI a stable revenue.

For us, we were just feeling it seemed AM1810 was not so popular as there are not enough discussions in and abroad of TI community, which is not normal for a matured product. For those root level problems we found in the past years, I think they should have been fixed by users or yourself a long time ago as AM1810 was launched since several years ago.

No doubt your engineers are really professional, and we appreciate their help a lot.

And we are happy to have a stable AM1810 supply and customer service. And we just want to remind that your AM1810's market can be better as you told it is good now.

    Best regards.

    Guotao
