Secure C6748 KEK as unique serial number

Good day experts,

We are using the secure C6748 DSP for one of our new designs. I am familiar with the basic secure boot procedures and I have managed to successfully get the entire process up and running.

In our current design, our unique device serial number originated from our NOR flash part, which has an unique manufacturing serial number burnt into the device. However, for our new design we will be using a different NOR flash part, which does not have this feature. Since our PCB is quite pressed for space, we would not like to use a dedicated part for the unique serial number.

We came up with the following idea and we were wondering if this would be feasible:

- During our manufacturing phase a standard dummy SW header is binded to the secure C6748

- Since the SW header is encrypted with the unique KEK of the secure C6748, it should encrypt the same SW header differently for each device

- A part of this dummy encrypted SW header is then used as the unique serial number for the device

Would this work?
