McASP inactive slot errata question

Hi,

I read in the errata of the TMS320C6748 (sprz303h.pdf)  that the McASP does not support inactive slots in combination with EDMA section 2.1.6). The errata makes me belief there is no workaround and it never works.

Is that true? Is it impossible to have two DSP's work together on a single I2S (TDM) bus?

I wanted to have one DSP do the left output and the other the right.

Are there plans to have this fixed?

    Thanks for your post.

    You are absolutely right that McASP transmit operation with EDMA triggered data transfers will fail if all time slots in an n-slot TDM are not configured as active slots. Currently, there is no workaround proposed unless all slots should be configured as active in the Transmit TDM Time Slot Register (XTDM) on a n-slot TDM frame. 

    TI may have a plan to fix this in the next silicon revision but i am not sure about the actual time line and complexity involved in the SoC design.
