Max. recommended SPI0 clock frequency on OMAP L138

Hi,

We are using an OMAP L138 based custom board. I have noticed that both UBL and UBoot we are using sets the clock frequency for SPI0 to 30MHz. I have seen in a TI spec. that the maximum recommended clock frequency for SPI bus is 20 MHz. We have not modified this setup and the clock setup is as provided by TI as part of UBL and UBoot. Just wanted to ask if this recommendation is valid and if we shall set the clock frequency down to 20 MHz.

Are you suing SPI slave or SPI master boot?
Can you also point to the version of UBL/UBoot you are using and from which package?

Hi,
ARM on the OMAP side is doing the clock setup as the SPI master. We have a flash chip connected on SPI0 and operating in SPI slave mode. We are loading UBL and UBoot from this flash chip.

UBL version: 1.65
UBoot version: u-boot-2009.11-psp03.20.00.13

What is the operating core voltage of OMAPL138 and your SYSCLK2 frequency ?

How did you get the max. SPI clock frequency of 20MHz ?

From the device datasheet, the maximum recommended SPI clock frequency is 50MHz, 33.3MHz and 25MHz for core voltage of 1.3V, 1.1V and 1.0V respectively.
