SATA CONTROLLER USAGE ON ANY OF THREE PROCESSOR

Hi,

I most recently today came  across SATA 2.0 controller available at TI [3 series mentioned] and I thought that I would post my system design issue here infront of the vast experience:-

I have attached the part of my system requirement, which I explain further that I want an FPGA to be in between SATA2.0 interface of PC Motherboard and Hard Disc Drive.

Query1) Whether I can connect external SATA2.0 controllers on the TI, between PC and FPGA and between FPGA and HDD [BOTH]. I am sure it can be connected between FPGA and HDD as host controller but can it be between PC and FPGA, If not, please help how can i do this using any other part of TI, I do not want to use internal IP Cores of FPGA for this-NONO..

Query2) What will be the interface between FPGA and controllers to give sustained 3 Gbps rate? I do not want any other functionality of controller as such. Will some buffering be required on the controller side? Some reference circuit diagram / block diagram for this if one can come up or already has.

Thanks and Regards.
