BOOT procedure for the DSP and ARM processor.

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: OMAP-L138, OMAPL138, OMAP-L137

Hi there,I am considering to use OMAP-L138 DSP instead of 6748. Most of my hardware designing is done and I have designed such that the DSP should boot from NAND flash.

Looking at the datasheet for the OMAP-L138 it boot configuration is similar but the ARM boot ROM is used to boot the device. now, I am not sure if ARM BOOT ROM will boot ARM design from FLASH and then DSP BOOT ROM would be used for the DSP FLASH ?

I was under impression that the 6748 and OMAP-L138 are pin to pin compatible but I am not sure how does the boot work.

And one more thing, Will I have to have a OS in the ARM core? or can I just keep the ARM core in idle state and use DSP as using just 6748?

Or will I need to ARM to wake DSP up?

Please let me know. Thanks.

Mitesh
