CCS with OMAP 35x does not support TMS320C64XX

Hi Suresh,

Yes, I should of said, I was already following the instructions in the link you gave. My only difference is that I select the OMAP 5330 board option with the XDS emulator using the CCS setup. I have also tried the Mistral OMAP3530 board option.  However, on starting CCS it compains it does not support the TMS320C64XX driver and exits.  This is after I have loaded the required software updates of which the associated release notes indicate that this driver should be supported.

 Contact your board provider for bringing up the board.They will help you regarding this issue.

Could you post screen shots of what your CCS setup looks like (where you chose the emulator and devices connected to it) as well as perhaps the error message itself?

The current CCS service pack and Spectrum Digital drivers should have full support for the OMAP3530, it sounds like there is either something wrong with your CCS setup or your install in general but seeing the actual error message could help to clarify things.

The problem I assume is caused by the default C6400PLUS_0 processor entry under Port 17. I have checked that the associated driver sdgo6400usb_plus.dvr is present under C:\CCStudio_v3.3\drivers.

That is one I have not seen before, it is more than just sdgo6400usb_plus.dvr in this case (you get a different error if just that is missing), there is something else broken within the CCS install. Have you tried reinstalling CCS as the error message suggests? Usually a reinstall is what would fix these sorts of issues, as the reinstall will replace any corrupted files and reaffirm all of the links within CCS.

I just verified the latest Spectrum Digital driver set from http://support.spectrumdigital.com/ccs33/ works on my end, note that once you are past this odd error you may run into some other issues with the connection covered by this document from the SD driver release notes.

Yes I have have uninstalled and reinstalled CCS as follows: 

Ran CCS IDE v3.3 CD and select remove.

Ran CCS IDE v3.3 CD and select typical installation.

Ran CCS_v3.3_SR11_81.6.2.exe (CCS Service Pack 11)

Ran setupCCSPlatinum_v30329.exe (Spectrum Digital drivers)

Ran CCS Setup and select OMAP3530 XDS510 Emulator, exit and ran CSS

Bang! still same problem.  

Some additional observations:

Selecting platforms from the 62xx family gives similar error i.e. TMS320C62XX not supported.

Selecting platforms from the C54xx and C55xx families give different error "Unable to find reg key for sdgo54xxusb.drv/sdgo55xxusb.dvr".

Selecting platforms from families C24xx, C24x+, C27xx and C28xx all work OK.

I notice on the TI CCS CD box that we have the CCS IDE v3.3 TMS320C2000 DSP PLATFORM EDITION. Does this mean that we can only access C2000 platforms?

However, when I view the CCS - About - Component Manager on our installation, it says that the C54XX, C55XX, C62XX, C64XX and C67XX processors are supported. 

There is a seperate install for C2000 only usage, so if you are using that it would certainly explain such errors, though I have never used this version myself. I am not sure why component manager would not be updated for the C2000 version, it is possible that it is just incorrect, regardless if your box/cd says it is for C2000 only than you need to obtain the full version.

The CCS versions can be found here, note that there is a significant price difference between the C2000 version which is priced to compete with micro controller IDEs versus the full CCS 3.3. If you ordered the full version and incorrectly received the C2000 version you should contact support.ti.com immediately to resolve the issue.

Yeah, looks like we have the C2000 only version. Unfortunatley the IDE does not give you much of a clue which version you have once it has been installed. As you say we will need the full version to access our OMAP stuff and thus will need to dig deeper into our pockets.
