TI OMAP3530 SGX Registers

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: OMAP3530

g'day

who do i contact for information on the SGX register in the OMAP3530 as promised in the Tech Ref?

i don't have a TI representative, but i do want to program the SGX Registers on the OMAP3530.

do i need to license the information?

in support of my question ... the following is extracted from the OMAP35x Technical Reference Manual (Rev. B).pdf - page 1735 - section '2D/3D Graphics Accelerator (SGX)':

=======================================================

13.4 SGX Registers

          Table 13-2 describes the SGX memory mapping in the device.

                             Table 13-2. Instance Summary

          Module Name        Start Address        End Address         Size

          SGX                      0x5000 0000        0x5000 FFFF        64K bytes

13.4.1 SGX Register Mapping Summary

          CAUTION

          The SGX registers are limited to 32-bit data accesses; 8- and 16-bit accesses are not allowed because they can corrupt register content.

13.4.2 SGX Register Description

          For more information about register descriptions, contact your TI representative.

  • In general the SGX is not going to be open to developers at the register level for at least two major reasons, first being that the SGX is quite complex such that most users would get little out of register level access and that it would create a significant support burden, second being that the IP used in the SGX is not TI's but rather property of Imagination Technologies meaning we do not have the licensing rights to distribute it freely. We do plan on releasing a OpenGLES driver package for the SGX to give developers access to the peripheral (this should be more widely available soon), however there are currently no plans to release hardware level documentation on the SGX. If you really wanted such documentation the best path would be your local TI representative as the document says, however it is unlikely that they could help you with this either.
