  • Forum Post: Does the TMDXEVM3503 OMAP EVM include DVSDK?

    Juan Gonzales Juan Gonzales
Yes, all our hardware boards (EVMs) include software that allows evaluation of the board; for platforms which include an ARM and a DSP such as OMAP35x, this software is referred to as DVSDK. Please note that for TMDXEVM3503, DVSDK does not ship in the box, it is available for download to registered...

Bernie Thompson TI Bernie Thompson TI
With the latest software package release (PSP 1.0.0) DVI is now supported on the Mistral OMAP35x EVM board. There is a caveat to this though, in that the current EVM hardware must have a resistor replaced for the DVI to function properly, in particular resistor R18 (top side of the EVM in the group of...

All, I am working with the Mistral EVM board, and the DVSDK (Beta). What we want to demo is connecting the OMAP to a HD television so I'm trying to run the 'decode' demo as part of the DVSDK having configured the display to use the DVI connector # echo "DVI" > /sys/class...

  • Forum Post: Re: Issue with DVI output

    Juan Gonzales Juan Gonzales
Richard, I do not believe this resistor is related to the rotation issue at all but I just wanted to make sure you were aware of this required change as well. When it comes to DVI displays, the best way to ensure compatibility is to read the EDID data and configure video output for the native display...

  • Forum Post: Re: EVM REV B OK for SDK 1.0?

Bernie Thompson TI Bernie Thompson TI
I believe the Rev C is referring to the main board as opposed to the processor board, your board should probably say Rev C just below the lower right corner of the LCD. I have one of the earliest boards that were available and it is Rev C, I have never come across a Rev B main board so I suspect you...

  • Forum Post: When the EVM attempts to mount a NFS file system on a Linux host PC, the EVM shows the error 'Root-NFS: Server returned error -13 while mounting /mount/point'

Bernie Thompson TI Bernie Thompson TI
The error itself indicates that the NFS server denied permission to access the folder which can be brought about by the several reasons. As this can have a variety of causes there are a variety of potential solutions. 1. The export configuration in /etc/exports may be incorrect or NFS service not started...

This is indeed the better place for this type of question :) The OMAP35x SDK does provide support for USB devices, and it has been tested, though there are several limitations still present with the USB drivers as discussed in section 2.6 of the PSP release notes . You do have to have a MiniA ended...

Juan Gonzales Just to make sure our readers do not get confused, nfs.tar.gz is normally distributed with our OMAP software (as opposed to DaVinci). Although the Linux commands are generic and is probably good to mention this forum as well This is why it says 'or similar', which could mean whatever...

I don't know about strace, but there is an xtrace utility in arm-2007q3\arm-none-linux-gnueabi\libc\usr\bin after you install the Code Sourcery tools.

Ajit, You can compile this from open source by grabbing the strace packages from source forge and applying the patches required to support ARM EABI (not sure if they are already merged with latest strace releases). RidgeRun offers an Developer SDK for OMAP35x already that includes strace, ltrace...

  • Forum Post: Re: DSP load bug

Bernie Thompson TI Bernie Thompson TI
As I understand from SPRU423f the PWRM module is only for C55x processors so it should not be doing anything with the OMAP3 which has no such core in it, thus I expect this is just a bug of having the support enabled without having the hardware there to utilize it. If it was usable on the OMAP3 it would...

Just as a note on this, we are also pushing for future releases of the OMAP SDK to have these basic tools included in the filesystem, so hopefully in the future you should have more of these sorts of things out of the box.

Bernie Thompson TI Bernie Thompson TI
So there is actually PWRM support for the OMAP3, and there is an application note that discusses it within dvsdk_3_00_00_13\bios_5_32_02\packages\ti\bios\doc\spraa98b.pdf, note that although this mentions OMAP34x it still applies to the OMAP35x as they share the same basic power management capabilities...

I have seen this come up a few times so I wanted to try to clarify it here, the Mistral EVM actually has OMAP3530 silicon on it. If you just want to get some performance approximations it would probably be easier to use the C64x+ simulator in CCS as opposed to using the OMAP silicon itself, at least for starters, as there are a number of examples out there that you could use very quickly. As a bit of an alternative method, I am curious if you are trying to do this from the ARM or the DSP, and if you are using Linux or DSP/BIOS? Unfortunately the source code to the ROM boot loader is not available (this applies to most other OMAP/Davinci/C6x devices as well).
