how to use DSPIMG library package to read image

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: 4460

hi ,

in my project, i  use dsp C64X+ to process images and video, the image will be captured by a camera then i like to know how to read this image.

after  researching via web i found that:

  • C64X+ devices support DSPIMG library package which can be used to read image but i didn't found the way to use it?
  • there is also the idea to use opencv.

please i need for your help, i need to know the way to programme the dsp to do that , what are the suitable algorithms and the necessary libraries ?

thanks in advance.

serina.

  • Serina,

I'm not familiar with any library called DSPIMG. Your question does not seem to really be specific to TI-RTOS, so I went ahead and moved this thread over to the device forum in hopes that someone there will be able to answer your question more fully.
  • Serina,

Which device are you using that contains the C64x+ core. We need more information like that, and the place where you found a reference to a library so we can get the correct or full name. You may be referring to a software library from one of our Third Party partners, in which case you will want to contact them directly for support on that product.

What is the application that you are trying to build? What kinds of image/video processing do you wish to do?

  • Hi RandyP,
I use pandaboard es which based on the Texas Instruments OMAP4460 system on a chip (SoC).
I learned that the dsp of omap4460 is C64X(tesla), i want to use it to minimize the execution time.

my aim is to found a method to minimize the time execution of multimedia application by using the different core of the processor OMAP 4460.
by searching i found that the omap contains a numerous of cores like: ISS(Image SubSystem),The IVA-HD ( image and video imaging hardware accelerator subsystem)...
so i want to know :
    * how to allow the dsp to read the image? which library to use ? is it opencv?
    * by referring to Technical Reference Manual of OMAP4460 Multimedia Device(Figure 2-1. Interconnect Overview), i found that there is a communication between the dsp and the IVA , so what are the tools to use it which allow the dsp to communicate with iva and with the CPU?
    * what is the role of ISS and how i can use it to achieve my aim?

I need so much your help , really i'm lost and i don't know what i will to do, especially i don't have much time to accomplish my study project.
    Regards,
    Serina
  • Serina,

The C64x+(Tesla) is not the same as the C64x+ core in the C6455, for example. It will not have the same capabilities. And it is not supported on this forum. From what I can find (and I am not the one assigned to say this officially) there is not a forum for getting support for the OMAP4460.

If you go to the product folder for the device by clicking OMAP4460, you will find a statement about support through module providers and specialized third parties, with a link to a support-search page.

If you are not in a position to contract with one of these third parties for your support, then pandaboardorg will be a good place to interact with other Pandaboard users.

i will go silent after this, so you can see if anyone else at TI or from the Community will answer. Or you can start a new thread by starting with your latest post here, since it gives a lot more information about what you are looking for. That may be the quickest way to get an official statement about the support for the OMAP4460.

    Regards,
    RandyP
