Replacing the C6424 with C6421

Hi,

We use both C6424 and C6421.

A question came up if it's possible using the C6424 with the C6421 SW? In other words, replacing the C6421 with C6424 on the same board and running the C6424 as C6421 (Same PLL setting etc.).

The main concern is different DDR2 layout, meaning the C6424 will operate with a single DDR2 device (data lines 0 to 15).

Should we expect any issues with such replacement?

Thanks.

  • Hello Eliezer,

When you are replacing C6421 with C6424, You have to make sure that you considered all the hardware aspects like pin mapping, peripheral interfacing, device package, operating frequency etc.,

If all the above mentioned items have been taken care in hardware, then there is no much effort on the software migration. The unused DDR data lines of C6424 should be properly terminated.
