Moving from TMS320C6202BGNZA250 to TMS320C6203BGNZA250 SW Compatibility

Hi Experts,

One of my customers is interested in moving from

TMS320C6202BGNZA250

to

TMS320C6203BGNZA250

What are actually the differeces between these 2 DSPs and is it simple to switch bwtween them in matter of SW code.

Thanks for your help

  • We are working on your post.
  • Moved this thread over C64x single core device forum.
    Thank you.
  • Shai,

These devices are part of the C620x family and these two are stated as pin-compatible on their respective Product Folder web pages.

The C6203B has more internal memory so that should not be a problem with migration. Check addresses of memories and peripherals, but I suspect only the increased memory size is the difference. The datasheets are the only clear statement about what is in the devices and should be used as the final comparison for differences.

They use the same DSP core, so the code is compatible. Any differences would only be in terms of peripherals that are added or subtracted, or addresses that have changed. But when we made these devices, we tried hard to maintain compatibility from one to the next.
