TMS320C6746: XDS510 debugger with TMS320C6746

Part Number: TMS320C6746

Hi Team,XDS510 debugger with TMS320C6746.docx

I have PCB with TMS320C6746 on it and use debugger XDS510 with it.

I have this configuration of JTAG pins on the PCB:

The JTAG signals connected to flex connector in this configuration:

That connected via flex cable with length of 10 cm with 23 pin to Debug Connector PCB that have next connections - it is connected on the PCB straight to this connector:

That connected via micro-HDMI-HDMI cable with length of 0.5m (but is also can be less - 20-30 cm for example) to 3rd PCB that they call Adapter and on it they have straight connection to JTAG connector.

I manufactured it and have some problems with debug when during debug some main PCBs became to be no usable.

I found that if the trace between DSP and JTAG connector is more than 5 inch then there are needed buffers to be added:

So at next version I want to add it to improve JTAG performance.

I have couple questions regarding it:

1. Can I add buffers also at adapter board and also at connector board? It is no too much for the signals?

2. I don't have DVDD at flex cable that go from one PCB to another. Can I produce and use 3.3V at each one of the boards and use it for the buffers pull-ups?

3. Can you advise maybe some better solution to my problem?

Thanks,

Shlomi
