CCS/TMS320C6746: PRU Compiler update for C674x

Part Number: TMS320C6746

Tool/software: Code Composer Studio

Two issues.  First is that if I select a new project for the C6746 or C6748, it does not provide a tab to define build options for the PRU.  It is as from the point of view of Code Composer Studio (version 6.1.0) , there is no PRU on the C674x.  The workaround which I have used is to select a new project for the OMAP-138, which allows me then to build software for the PRUs and the C6748 and then debug them all together.  It works OK, but is confusing.  Any chance that this will be corrected, or already has been?

Second, and more important issue.  Up till now I have used compiler version 2.1.5 for the PRU, which is installed by downloading a file called sprc940a.zip, then running the exe file inside, called PRU_Development_1_03_Windows_Setup.exe   A new version of the compiler apparently exists, 2.2, but how can I get it?

Third and really critical issue, and I know many, many other users face this issue.  When I try to install these things using .exe files, or even worse, through the "App Center", the .exe file asks that I disable anti-virus software (which I cannot do as a matter of company policy, which any sane company has such a policy these days.)  It then starts writing large number of files to an unspecified location on my computer, which may or may not cause problems.  In the case of the App Center, it tries to do a major update of CCS, even though all I requested was the PRU compiler, and it gets stuck in the middle because it cannot find download a certain file from the TI site.

Perhaps it is reasonable for some users to be able to simply do a one-click update and have the TI site do whatever it thinks right on the user's computer.  However, there are those of us that need well-defined and stable build environments.  We must know exactly what tools are being used and where they are on the computer and have the ability to reproduce this identical environment on another computer.  For this purpose, it is crucial that you allow installation by copying or extracting a set of files to a location which the user can define.  Is this possible for the PRU compiler?

Thanks,
