AIS tools for C672x

Genius 5785 points

Hello,

I'd like to get Perl Tk v5.8.x for free and use AIS tools for C672x. The version for free is v5.16.x latest in ActiveState. Can this latest version invoke AIS tools? What problems does it occur in the versions later than v5.8.6? I also saw a description to install Perl Tk for v5.10.x. Please give me advice.

Using the TMS320C672x Bootloader (SPRAA69D)
6.1 Installing Bootloader Utilities (P.18)
Versions later than 5.8.6 have been reported to cause problems.

Perl version to run C672x Bootloader Utilities

  • Hi,

    Thanks for your post.

The latest releases later than 5.10.x by ActiveState do not include the Tk module installation to run the script, so it is not recommended to use the latest releases later than 5.10.x as well the very latest v5.16.x release.

As the script genBootCfg requires the Tk module in their installation package, it would recommended to use the previous active perl release 5.8.x and not the latest releases.

To be particular, it would better to use perl version 5.8.4 since the scripts were tested with the same, so it is good to go with mariana's recommendation as per the E2E post below:

  • Hello Sivaraj,

Thank you for your information. Do you mean I should buy a business edition of ActivePerl from ActiveState?

    Kazu

  • Hi,

Yes, it would be more appropriate to use since the script genBootCfg is tested with perl v5.8.4 which is also compliant to Tk module in their installation package.

    Thanks for your understanding.
