Hey,

I've been playing around with the SD card on the LCDkit for the C6748 and am having trouble with booting. I've been using AIS gen to create a bin file for my compiled application and then using SDMMC Writer (included with the C6748 starterware) to load the image onto the SD card on the LCDkit. The board technically boots fine, but I've found the SDMMC Writer (included with the C6748 starterware) blows away the FAT file system on the SD card. How do I load a boot and/or application image and maintain a standard FAT filesystem? I would like to be able to remove my SD card and read it with a standard PC.

Hi Tobyn,

The later version of OMAPL138 processor (LCDK) have support to boot from SD card and RBL code expects bootloader AIS image from (u-boot.ais) raw partition of SD card and kernel from FAT partiton.

Does this apply to the C6748? That is the processor on the LCDKit and on the custom board currently in layout.

I also plan to use eMMC instead of SD card long-term.

Those instructions assume my host machine is Linux, and I want to load Linux on the LCDkit. However, my host machine is Windows, and I plan to load a custom application using TI RTOS, not Linux.

Can this process be done on a Windows machine?

These instructions also appear to be for the OMAP-138, which includes an ARM. I'm using the C6748, which is DSP only. Is there anything I need to change for the C6748?

A uImage is mentioned throughout the article. I'm guessing this uImage is the Linux image? How do I create an image for my TI RTOS application?

Another forum post mentions that a boot image can be stored in the first 2mb of an eMMC card and then a FAT filesystem can be established after this, but it does not say how. Here is the reference forum post:

Hi Tobyn,

It can be done by what we do for MMC/SD card.

You can boot the board through NFS or NAND and write the bootloader into eMMC as like MMC.

dd if=/u-boot.ais of=/dev/sdb

/dev/sdb -> eMMC
