To whom may it concern,

I have question of TMDXLCDK6748 <TMS320C6748 DSP Development Kit (LCDK)>.

It has 'Composite Video IN Port' and 'VGA Video Out Port'.

How can I change it VGA Video Output to Composite Video Output?

I know THS8315 (Triple 10-Bit 240MSPS Video DAC with Tri-Level Sync & Video (ITU-R.BT601)-Compliant Full Scale Range) generate a Standard Video Output.

TMDXLCDK6748 VGA Output is 640x480 60Hz non-interlaced(alternatively referred to as noninterlaced scanning).

So I found TVP6000 solution in THS8200 web-page.

Its ITU-R.BT656 output port could be used to connect to an NTSC/PAL video encoder, such as the Texas Instruments TVP6000, for regular composite/S-video output.

but THS6000 is obsolete from TI's....

How can I convert THS8135 Standard VGA Output to NTSC/PAL Composite signal?

Can someone please answer my questions?

How can I change it VGA Video Output to Composite Video Output?

It is not a Composite video output and it is a composite video input for CCTV camera or DVD or TV composite video output signals etc.,

You can connect CCTV or TV or DVD's composite video output to the LCDK composite video input port (J9)
We have a facedetect example code that would loop back the composite video input and output through VGA port (J8).

Thanks for your post.

As per C6748/OMAPL138 LCDK board peripheral specification in TRM, VPIF is designed to support only BT.656 & BT.1120 composite and s-video I/O format which should be compatible to NTST/PAL TV system format. To my opinion, VPIF supports only interlaced video for SD resolution which is compatible to 720x480i.

Could you check the part no AD725ARZ for video encoder IC (RGB to NTSC/PAL) and refer to the data sheet & check whether it could fulfill your requirement.

But very serious result you can below URL.

It appear the composite port connected monitor has two split. It is very strange situation and we found seem problem that is 'ANALOG DEVICES engineer zone'.

You mean is TMS320C6748 can direct composite output video signal without THS8135?

Just I've done some search on digikey & got that part for video encoder with RGB to composite o/p.
I don't know more about that part since it is different make.

Hi,
may be you could try with VGA to composite converter cable(or VGA to YPbPr) available at the market. I tried it for DM6467 evm and it simply works!

Hi,

I could not remember the model, as I purchased it randomly from a local store, but I am sure you can go for any low cost converter(may be about $2-3), which will do the work.
