Is there any way to program I2C without csl library for TMS320C6748 evm board?

I want to try out I2C on TMS320C6748 evm board using DSP as the master and some other peripheral which i haven't figured out yet as the slave. I have been searching for hours as to is there any way to program the I2C to communicate without using the CSL library, but I don't know as to what other basic libraries or couldn't find source to do anything. If someone can share some basic communication code or any links, it would be really helpful. I am using CCS v5.3.
