No communication with PHY LAN8710A

Hello,

I am using custom board which is similar to the LCDKC6748. My DSP is running on 300MHz by external 25MHz crystal.

I have hard time to communicate with the PHY as i have kept preamble bit to 0 (Standard preamble) and CLDDIV to 50 as i am using input freq. is 50MHZ( for RMII) where as output is 1 MHZ.

After these i am settting MDIO_Enable in Control register and waiting for 5000 cycles. However, MDIO ALIVE register is always 0 means no PHYs detected.

Do i need to set any clock for the MDIO in .gel file in bootloader?

Do i need to make any special setting except set bit for CFGCHIP3 register for RMII_SEL bit.

Please guide me if you have any experience with it.

Axay,

Please ensure your hardware connections are correct between MAC and PHY ?

As Titus suggested, please try to test the interface with ndk examples and let us know the results.

Hello Senthil and Titus,

I would not be able to simulate examples for the OMAP kit or LCDKC6748 examples from ndk or nsp.

Reason is that i have RMII interfacing where as those boards are for MII. I understand that few pin changes in pinmux and cfg3 register would make it to RMII however its not working as i tried too.

Next stage is to probe the pins for 50MHz signal and some activity on the mdio line.

i am not able to poll any PHYs on the line though my clock registers showing that PLLCCLK7 is configured well and mdio is enebled by the mdioInit api from mdio.c

Please guide me if you have any clues.
