Hi,

We are using Capture Driver on Netra DM8168 in field merge mode.

For the same settings of the driver and same input source, the driver's behaviour keeps changing (multiple runs produce different output) regarding which order the fields get merged in temporal sense (not spatial). The two variants are listed below

  1. The top field is first in the field merged frame buffer (i.e. Top Field First Flag = 1)
  2. The bottom field in first in the field merged frame buffer (i.e. Top Field First Flag =0)

The questions we have are

  1. Is it possible to program the driver to merge the fields in a particular field first order (Top Field First Flag = 1 / Top Field First Flag = 0) so that the above behaviour is consistent across all runs?
  2. Does the Driver (hence VFCC component) have any output argument(associated with each output buffer) which tells the information on value of "Top Field First Flag" for the given output buffer?

Thansk and Regards,

Dileep Tamia

    Dileep,

Reading field type is hw feature and not programmable. As the HW detects field, it informs the driver about field type. Top filed is always first . If top is followed by another top, it will be dropped. ( in driver terminology it is odd and even field)

    Regards

    Vimal

    Vimal,

From your response I understand the following

    1. Output buffers from VFCC will always contain 2 successive fields in Top (Even) field first order.
    2. The Temporal distance between the Even and Odd fields (Filled in the VFCC output buffer) will be exactly equal to 1 field period
    3. Any dangling fields will be discarded. I.e.
    1. If Even Field EF1 is followed by Even Field EF2 THEN EF1 will be discarded
    2. Odd field OF1 is followed by Odd Field OF2 THEN OF2 will be discarded

    Could you please confirm this.

    Thanks and Regards,

    Dileep
