how to rebuild kernel

I think it is difficult to build kernel in target since it is required lot of dependencies packages to build kernel so better to rebuild kernel in Linux ubuntu host machine.

Yes, You can enable USB GSM modem support in kernel through menuconfig.

Download the AM335x TI SDK source.

1) Go to linux source directory.

2) Provide below command to rebuild your kernel.

make menuconfig ARCH=arm CROSS_COMPILE=arm-arago-linux-gnueabi- (select USB GSM options)

make uImage ARCH=arm CROSS_COMPILE=arm-arago-linux-gnueabi-

First, am I supposed to use "CROSS_COMPILE=arm-arago-linux-gnueabi-" for the the version 6 and 7 SDK for the AM335x starter kit and beaglebone. Or is it supposed to be "arm-linux-gnueabihf-"

And second, how do I compile the default configuration for the Starter Kit or the BeagleBone Black for the kernel and for U-boot? I am having an issue with the device tree. It will not initialize usb (I cannot do lsusb). And when I perform the "create-sdcard" script, it says that it could not find any dtb/dts device tree files. 

I have tried to follow the guidelines on the TI website for compiling everything from scratch for the starter kit and for the BeagleBone Black but I have not been able to get it to work. Do you or anyone else have a complete detailed set of instructions for setting up the SDK and compiling the kernel and u-boot and sd-cards from scratch.
