Linux/TMDSEVM572X: Developing for 572XEVM/AM5718 - What Gotchas will we Encounter with RedHat vs. Ubuntu?

Part Number: TMDSEVM572X

Tool/software: Linux

Hi,

I'm relatively new to developing Linux on TI SOC platforms.  I'm working with a TI572X EVM.

**I need to know, if I install Red Hat LInux on one of my corporate PC's instead of Ubuntu version 16.04, what potential gotchas could we face? I believe our IT department will allow me to install Red Hat natively on a PC, and the hope there is that we would have more control over what protocols (e.g. TFTP, NFS) are allowed.**

Recently, we ran up against stumbling blocks with network booting the Sitara 572x EVM with Ubuntu 16.04 running within VirtualBox on a Windows 7 host machine, apparently due to policies put in place by our IT department. For instance, when the Sitara is attempting to mount the development FS on an Ubuntu/Virtualbox, Wireshark shows the response from the NFS server is administratively prohibited.  I've tried all kinds of gyrations with the firewall and opening the ports, but no luck thus far.  But the operation just works on my personal Windows machine at home running Ubuntu within VBOX.

Please let me know what you think...

Thanks!

Jeff
