And I seen corruption in 0.9.6 version VLC player, but latest version of VLC player(1.1.10) plays fine. And SDK2.6 stream has multislice, each frame...

Hi William, The streams you sent have B frames, but TI's DM365 H264 Encoder doesn't support B frames. And we are also seeing Qp is not fixed(28 you have set) across frames. Can you please conform, which encoder you are using? What is the version?

Hi William, Can you please send original 264 streams generated by DM36x(don't recode)? And also have you tried capturing and encoding with 720p only ?

Hi Kirill, Your params looks fine. And we tried at our end, we are able create and encode the 2560x2048 resolution. Can you please migrate to latest version encoder and try once? latest encoder available @ http://software-dl.ti.com/dsps/dsps_public_sw/codecs/DM36x/index_FDS.html

Hi William, Here attaching streams generated at our end for fixed Qp. We can see bits ratio is as expected(~2.5) (Please visit the site to view this file) Please provide your input yuv and streams generated from DM36x platform(without recoding) Thanks, Veeranna

Hi Kirill, Sorry for delayed reply. Looks your parameter set causing level limit error. Can you please try by setting lesser frame rate for reference and target frame rates(lets say 25000 instead of 30000). Thanks, Veeranna

Hi Kirill, This limitation is in h264 standard not with codec. You can have look at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/H.264/MPEG-4_AVC Now are you able to create encoder for higher resolution ? Thanks, Veeranna

  • Forum Post: Re: H264: minimum resolution

    Veeranna Hanchinal Veeranna Hanchinal
Hi Kirill, You can use platinum codec for 160x1024 resolution, you need to use backward compatible mode by setting encodingPreset = XDM_USER_DEFINED and encQuality = 0/1. Thanks, Veeranna

Hi Kirill, To find the reason for corruption I suggest you to run standalone testapp for your different resolutions. And also conform(by dumping to file) the input YUV data to the encoder. And during testing backward 1.1 mode is verified for input width as 160. Thanks, Veeranna

  • Forum Post: How to improve H.264 performance (baseline profile, res=640x480)?

    Rohan Babtiwale Rohan Babtiwale
Hi, I am using H.264 codec to encode video on DM368. I want constant bit rate of 512K maximum. The performance is okay with the still image but it degrades with the moving picture. There are blocks (pixalization) in the video stream. At 2M bit rate the performance is good. But I want a better picture...

Hi Rohan, If speed is not an issue for you, please use encodingPreset = USER_DEFINED and encQuality=1. You can also choose different rate control mode depending upon your sequence. please have a look at different rate control algos avaialbe at http://processors.wiki.ti.com/index.php/DM36x_Rate_Control_Modes...

Hi, I have tried changing these parameters and few other parameters. But there is no apparent change in video quality. I am only concerned about the pixel blocks in the image and picture clarity when there is motion. Can you give me overall back ground of how to remove pixalization at lower bit rates...
