Hello,

I'd like to develop the software with SYS/BIOS on C6657EVM now. What versions would you recommend the software environment?

- CCS v6.0.1?
- SYS/BIOS v6.xx?
- XDCtools v3.xx?

Regards,
Kazu

  • Kazu,

    DSP/BIOS version:
Any version of 6.0.x and 6.1.x for the C6000 Code Generation Tools

In particular, you will want to look at the BIOS Multicore Software Development Kit (MCSDK); there are links in the Wiki pages at:

MCSDK_2.x supported for Keystone I devices:

    http://processors.wiki.ti.com/index.php/Category:Multicore
    http://processors.wiki.ti.com/index.php/BIOS_MCSDK_2.0_User_Guide
    http://processors.wiki.ti.com/index.php/BIOS_MCSDK_2.0_Getting_Started_Guide

    BIOS download link:
    http://software-dl.ti.com/dsps/dsps_public_sw/sdo_sb/targetcontent/bios/index.html

You can get the details at the SYSBIOS product release page for recommended with XDCTools 3.xx.xx.xx , CCSv6.x.x

In addition that, you can find more details at this wiki pages,

  • Hello Pubesh,

Thank you for your information. MCSDKv2 is developed based on CCSv5. I think that CCSv5 and some related tools of the same generation are better than CCSv6 about the compatibility of each tools on C665x. I need CSL, but don't need LLD of MCSDK. What do you think whether I use CCSv5 or v6? Could you give me an advice?

    Regards,
    Kazu

  • Kazu,

Yes, your understanding is correct. TI is developed and tested the MCSDK_2.x on the CCSv5.x only.

We are recommending strongly to use CCS5.x when build or customize  the MCSDK2.x for Keystone I devices. If you go for the CSL alone, its same to applicable.

  • Hello Pubesh,

Thank you for your reply. I saw the release note of MCSDK_2_01_02_06 and understood CGT version. These softwares are built and tested by CGTv7.4.0. I'll use CSL with CGTv7.4.11 as latest version of v7.4.x. I'll also use SYS/BIOSv6 (won't use PDK LLD). I'm interested in CCSv6 and SYS/BIOSv6.40 as latest version. I think that CCS, CSL and SYS/BIOS are independent, they don't have the dependence each other. I haven’t made up my mind whether I use CCSv5 or v6. Do you think the combination which is CCSv5 and SYS/BIOSv6.3x is safe?

    Regards,
    Kazu

Yes. The build dependency of CCSv5.x and SYS/BIOSv6.3x will be safe, if you are going forward with CCSv5.x
