Is C6474 support in the SYSBIOS version of EDMA LLD dropped?

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: SYSBIOS

Recently we started porting a project for a C6474 from DSP/BIOS (CCS3.3) to SYSBIOS (CCS6). One of the used libraries is EDMA LLD. In the original project we used version "edma3_lld_01_11_02_05". Now the latest version is edma3_lld_02_11_05_02, but support for the C6474 seems to have been removed! The latest version on the git.ti.com repo also does not show the C6474.

Could someone comment on this and suggest a solution? I posted a LLD related question at the time which caused me to believe the C6474 would be supported.

Thanks,

Dirk

  • Dirk,

There is no support for EDMA directly in TI-RTOS. To the best of my knowledge, support for the LLD has been dropped, but I have moved this thread over to the device forum so that someone there can confirm that and advise you further.
  • I added support for the C6474 myself and rebuilt LLD. I still need to test, but the additions were not difficult (though numerous) to port from the old LLD.

I'm still very curious why the C6474 was excluded, but support for the C6472 is still present.

    Cheers,

    Dirk

  • Hi Dirk,

    Thanks for your post.

It is agreed that, C6474 is dropped on EDMA3 LLD BIOS 6 releases, but i believe all LLD releases are C64x+ SYS/BIOS based and there shouldn't be any issues in porting a C6474 project from DSP/BIOS to SYS/BIOS. To my knowledge, even though LLD releases are meant for C6472 base core in the release notes, it should work for C6474 core too since this is just porting BIOS based projects. Basically, both C6472 & C6474 cores belong to C64x+ DSP core and architecture wise, there is not much difference too.

There is no specific reason that C6474 support was dropped in LLD BIOS 6 release and I think, LLD was released in keeping the notion of providing support to one C647x core and the other C647x core can be supported by the user and modified accordingly without much overhead. This is what I mean that, C6474 was excluded from LLD BIOS 6 releases.

    Thanks for your understanding.

    Thanks & regards,
