DSP/BIOS training

I have viewed the TI-RTOS Workshop Series with Eric Wilbur and found it helpful. Unfortunately, we currently use DSP/BIOS and not SYS/BIOS or RTOS Kernel. Is there any online training available for DSP/BIOS? Are there any documents that describe the differences between these three bios types and what the pros and cons are to using each?

Also, please note I am currently using CCS 5.2.1.00018 and DSP/BIOS 5.41.13.42.

Hi Robert,

Unfortunately, we do not have an online training for DSP/BIOS. It is a legacy product but the SYS/BIOS training should help you as it has the same concepts as DSP/BIOS. You can find all the documentation on DSP/BIOS here: http://www.ti.com/tool/dspbios

As far as the differences between the three BIOS types, SYS/BIOS was renamed TI-RTOS Kernel. So they are the same. The differences between DSP/BIOS and SYS/BIOS are explained in the following wiki:

Vikram,
Thanks for your reply. One thing I noticed is that SYS/BIOS and TI-RTOS Kernel all refer to a .cfg file. But DSP/BIOS does not seem to have this. It has a .tcf file. What is the difference?

The .cfg and .tcf files are used for configuring the RTOS (SYS/BIOS or DSP/BIOS). When SYS/BIOS was developed, we moved away from the language for configuration in .tcf to javascript like scripting language in .cfg. But conceptually they are similar.
