is it possible to migrate

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: SYSBIOS, OMAP-L137

Hi,

I'm using OMAP L137 on CCS v3.3 with DSP/BIOS 5.33.01 on DSP core, not using ARM or linux right now.

And I would like to migrate to the latest version of CCS tool (v6x) with RTOS, is it possible to migrate to TI/RTOS?

and port BIOS on DSP ?

And what is the difference between TI/RTOS and SYS/BIOS?

New to this new versions of RTOS would appreciate timely response.

  • Nancy,

TI-RTOS is an SDK that includes SYS/BIOS as its kernel + RTOS driver and instrumentation.
Using the OMAP L137, you'd want to migrate to SYS/BIOS as we don't have a TI-RTOS flavor for application processors.
  • Hi Tom,
    Thankyou for the quick response.

  • Hi Tom,
    The link below says
    http://www.ti.com/tool/SYSBIOS

"TI-RTOS Kernel (formerly known as SYS/BIOS™) is an advanced, real-time kernel for use in a wide range of DSPs, ARMs, and microcontrollers. It represents the successor product to the well-known DSP/BIOS real-time kernel, which has been used in thousands of DSP applications. It provides preemptive multitasking, hardware abstraction, and memory management. TI-RTOS Kernel is at the core of TI-RTOS, a full-featured real-time operating system including drivers drivers, networking and USB stacks. TI-RTOS is available for select TI devices.

TI-RTOS Kernel is currently available for TI C64x+ core based devices (including the OMAP35x™ and DaVinci™ digital video processors), TMS320C674x™ devices (including OMAP-L13x),"

Can you please clarify on this, i'm a bit confused now.

  • I apologize for the confusion. TI-RTOS as an SDK only supports a subset of devices (for various reasons) that the TI-RTOS kernel itself supports.

The TI-RTOS kernel is a rebranding of SYS/BIOS. The device support description on the link you've sent is really a description of SYS/BIOS and when you go to the download page it points to SYS/BIOS installers. These installers as far as I know have support for the OMAPL-13x.

  • Hi Tom,
Thankyou so much for the quick response, very much appreciated.

I posted a question on OMAP L137 forum to know the latest version details of SYS/BIOS that can be used
    e2e.ti.com/.../1602873

and one of the TI employee suggested for TI/RTOS, would you be able to confirm whether the version -
    TI-RTOS v2.00.01.23( formerly SYS/BIOS ) supports C6000 devices
can be used or not on OMAP L137 processor?

If not the above one, will the latest version 6.42.01.20 from the link can be used for SYS/BIOS upgrade?

  • Sorry for the late reply Nancy.

You should just go grab the latest version of SYS/BIOS instead of TI-RTOS for the OMAP-L137. Did you find what you are looking for?
